Oral Microbiome Test

Advanced Oral Microbiome Analysis for Personalised Dental Health

Discover the science behind your oral health with our comprehensive Oral Microbiome Test, powered by advanced shotgun metagenomic sequencing. This next-generation saliva-based test analyses the complete oral microbial ecosystem, providing valuable insights into the bacteria that influence your dental health, gum health, and long-term oral wellbeing.

Designed to support preventative dentistry and personalised oral care strategies, this test provides a detailed understanding of your oral microbiome beyond traditional dental assessments.

What Is an Oral Microbiome Test?

The oral microbiome consists of billions of microorganisms that live in the mouth, including bacteria, fungi, and other microbes. These organisms play a vital role in maintaining oral health, but imbalances can contribute to dental problems and oral disease risk.

Our Oral Microbiome Test uses advanced shotgun metagenomic sequencing technology to characterise the entire oral ecosystem, helping identify microbial patterns associated with oral health and disease risk.

This non-diagnostic test is designed to provide biological insights that support preventative oral healthcare, monitoring, and informed discussions with dental professionals.

What Does the Oral Microbiome Test Measure?

Oral Microbiome Balance Overview

Understand the overall composition of your oral microbiome, including both beneficial and potentially harmful microbial populations.

Beneficial and Pathogenic Bacteria Analysis

Identify key bacterial groups associated with oral health and those linked to increased risk of dental complications.

Oral Health Risk Assessments

Receive microbiome-based risk assessments relating to:

• Tooth decay (dental caries)
• Gum disease (gingivitis and periodontal disease)
• Bad breath (halitosis)
• Oral thrush

Personalised Prevention Insights

Gain actionable information that may help support more tailored oral hygiene and preventative care strategies.

Clinician-Friendly Interpretation

Your report provides clear interpretation support designed to facilitate discussions with dentists, hygienists, and oral healthcare professionals.

Why Is the Oral Microbiome Important?

Research increasingly shows that the oral microbiome plays a significant role in oral health and disease development.

An imbalance in oral bacteria may influence:

• Dental plaque formation
• Tooth decay and cavities
• Gum inflammation
• Periodontal disease progression
• Persistent bad breath
• Oral thrush risk
• Long-term oral health outcomes

Understanding your oral microbiome provides a valuable biological layer of information that can support more personalised oral healthcare decisions.

This test may be suitable for individuals who:

• Want to optimise their oral health
• Experience recurring dental issues
• Have concerns about gum health
• Suffer from persistent bad breath
• Are undergoing periodontal treatment
• Want a preventative approach to dental care
• Wish to monitor oral health changes over time
